Halim Maviş, a retiree in the Bigadiç district in western Balıkesir province, started an excavation after he had a dream in which he saw a buried treasure of gold that would require 40 camels to carry.
Maviş requested consent from the city's culture and tourism directorate as well as the museum department and gendarmerie command to excavate an area near the Simav Stream in the district's Yörecekler neighborhood. Heavy equipment has arrived to the area and the excavation is being carried out to find the buried treasure in Maviş's dream.
A group of divers are also helping him explore the Simav Stream. District residents curiously watch the excavations. Maviş told Anadolu Agency (AA) that he has great trust in his emotional intelligence and believes that he will find the buried treasure in his dream. He also said that according to a hearsay, a large group of camels carrying gold came to the area and the gold was buried there in the past.
