Folk dancers gathered in Bursa's Orhangazi district to break the world record for the largest horon circle, which, if successful, will be included in the Guinness Book of Records.
Performing "horon," a traditional Black Sea folk dance famous in the Turkish region's coastal towns, professional and amateur dancers gathered at the 16th Kadırga Festival to break the previous German record of 1,444 participants. The record attempt, co-organized by the Yıldırım and Organgazi municipalities in cooperation with the Bursa Trabzon Association Federation and the Orhangazi Trabzon Natives Culture and Solidarity Foundation, officially began when the red and white clad participants started to dance.
Held under the supervision of Orhan Kural, the consultant for Guinness Turkey, and Kural's assistant, Aydın Türkgücü, the record attempt will be registered after the participant count is officially released by the Guinness Book of Records.
