Ferda Sayıner, 62, of İzmir who works at the National Education Ministry's İzmir office, is getting ready to earn a bachelor's degree for the 10th time and get into the Guinness Book of World Records. Since his first day at elementary school at the age of seven, Sayıner has been a student for 55 years.
Having graduated from various departments, including media, communications, business management and law, Sayıner is a role model for her peers as well as young people. According to the Habertürk daily, Sayıner, who has been working at the ministry for 40 years, is about to be registered on Guinness Book of World Records for having the most bachelor's degrees.
Sayıner is the son of illiterate parents and one of 11 siblings. "My father did not send my sisters to school as he believed that girls do not have to study. However, I encouraged my family to send the other girls in my family to school. I graduated from all these universities for my sisters who had no chance to continue their education. During my education journey, my biggest supports are my family, wife and two children. I have never met anyone who has graduated from 10 different departments. I will apply to the Guinness Book of World Records. I want my name in the history of education," Sayıner said.
