Istanbulites to pedal for environmental awareness

With aims to develop a sustainable environment and raise awareness about recycling, a cycling tour will be organized with the cooperation of the Turkish Plastic Industrialists' Foundation of Research and Development (PAGCEV) and Istanbul's Beşiktaş Municipality.

The cycling tour, which was planned to encourage environmental awareness and promote cycling as an alternative to motor vehicles, will start in Beşiktaş Democracy Square on Sunday, Aug. 20.

During the cycling tour, which will be conducted with the slogan "Cycle to Recycle," the chairman of PAGCEV, Yavuz Eroğlu and Beşiktaş Mayor Murat Hazinedar will participate in cycling. Participants will start the tour in Beşiktaş Democracy Square and cycle up to the Aşiyan Cemetery before returning to Beşiktaş. At the end of the tour, which will consist of a 16-kilometer (10-mile) route, participants will be awarded with surprise gifts.
