Popular TV series The Resurrection: Ertuğrul could be the show many Game of Thrones fans should watch, reports by British Metro daily suggested, praising the Turkish series for its plot, drama and characters.
"The Resurrection (aka Diriliş: Ertuğrul) is the Game of Thrones style epic we never knew we needed until last week," the reports said, noting that the series is great for binge-watching as each episode runs for around two-hours and there are four seasons to date.
Referring to Engin Altan Düzyatan, who plays the leading role Ertuğrul in the series as the new "Jon Snow," the reports highlighted that the 13th-century drama offers an idea about the state of empires and principalities in Anatolia and the surrounding regions, including the Byzantine Empire, the Crusaders and more.
Since its premiere on the state-run Turkish TV channel TRT 1 in 2014, "Diriliş: Ertuğrul" (The Resurrection: Ertuğrul) has captured the attention of television audiences across Turkey and the region.
The show is based on the history of the Oghuz Turks in the 13th century. It centers around the life of Ertuğrul, the father of Osman I, the leader of Ottoman Turks and later, the founder and namesake of the dynasty that established and ruled the Ottoman Empire.
