Two male penguins recently "kidnaped" a penguin chick from its heterosexual parents in a Denmark zoo, Danish media reported Tuesday.
The gay couple's secret operation was witnessed by Odense Zookeeper Sandie Hedgegard Munck who told Danish broadcaster DR that the male penguins took the chick while its parents where away.
The same-sex couple probably thought the chick's parents were "neglectful" and therefore nestled the baby penguin as if it were their own, Munck said.
The confrontation between the chick's real parents and its kidnapers was captured on video and later pasted on the Odense Zoo's official Facebook account.
The video, which drew hundreds of likes and comments, shows that the zookeeper had to step in to further prevent an escalation between the two parties.
The gay couple's wish of having their own child later came true after the zoo decided to award them with an egg from a mother who was just unable to care for it, DR reported.
