Diyarbakır is getting ready to host the Ziraat Youth Festival between Oct. 18 and Oct. 21. The event in southeastern Turkey will bring young people together with art, sport and entertainment.

The festival will welcome President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for a "Team of Fame" match.

The joy of the Youth Festival began in Istanbul in May and will now make its way to Diyarbakır.

The programs are to be held at Diyarbakır city square's center of innovation, enlightenment and culture. The event will be supported by the Diyarbakır Governorship, Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, ministries and the Archery Foundation. President Erdoğan will also be there for a charity football match with former football legends on Oct. 20.

Famous singers to perform

The exhibitions will be a blend of tradition and modern cultures, with digital games, sports tournaments and competitions. Workshops and training will also be held as part of internships and a job fair.

Famous singers like Derya Uluğ, Buray, Gripin and Selçuk Balcı will perform at the festival.

Job and internship opportunity

Noting Diyarbakır's peaceful environment now, the Festival Committee President Ahmet Büyükgümüş said, "We organized the first of the Youth Festival in May in Istanbul with the participation of 750,000 people. It managed to be the most comprehensive youth festival in Turkey. We want to carry the festival joy to the four corners of the country. Therefore, we want to take the first step in Diyarbakır."

"We want to come together with Diyarbakır's young population. The city holds a great importance in the region. Our biggest aims are to prepare an environment where the youth will have fun through proper channels. They will also be able to find employment, draw attention to their problems, and increase social responsibility consciousness," he said.
