The Republican People's Party (CHP) in their extraordinary party meeting has announced that they will hold a convention to choose a new leader on September 5 and 6.
The convention will take place at Ankara Chamber of Commerce.
Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the party's leader has responded to the calls by internal opposition to choose a new party leader following the presidential elections where CHP's joint candidate Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu has lost and CHP has recieved less votes compared to the March 30 local elections.
The loss has amplified internal rivalry within the party.
