MHP Chairman Bahçeli criticizes ‘hypocritical' attitudes for peace

by Daily Sabah

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli made harsh comments yesterday about the PKK terrorist organization and its urban wing. "On the one hand they call for peace, on the other they wear kirtles and commit massacre," he said, referring to the PKK's urban youth branch, the Patriotic Revolutionary Youth Movement (YDG-H), whose members wear women's clothing to hide their identity during armed clashes.

On his official Twitter account on Tuesday Bahçeli talked about people's suffering with the coffins of soldiers being carried through the streets each day, saying: "Turkey caught the epidemic of death, it has come from far and wide."

Indicating that it is not known how much these "impure and bloody attacks" will continue, Bahçeli said: "Peace became the cover of violence and murders, freedom and democracy also became the shelter of dishonor. Everything is amiss, everything is wrong. Peace is a concept that is rasped and garbled, its sense and meaning is eliminated, it also has been captured and imprisoned by the enemies. This is a fact. Peace or the solution is the shelter of terrorism and the cradle of evil and evil intentions."

Stressing that terror is far from finished, Bahçeli fired arrows of criticism at the reconciliation process that the government has "frozen" until the terrorists leave the country. The MHP stressed that the PKK has to permanently stop its activities and lay down its arms for peace to be settled "in this heaven-like country." He also criticized the government's decision to not end, but rather freeze the reconciliation process.
