The PKK not only kidnap and recruit children, but they also abduct and rape women, Musa Isin, the governor of the eastern province of Ağrı, has said.
"One night a group of women were forcibly taken from their homes, while their husbands were threatened with death. In another instance, around 40 young girls were abducted, and raped. Our people's honors are under threat," he told reporters Saturday.
Isin also claimed that the PKK has also kidnapped and recruited thousands of Kurdish children, using their deaths as a tool of "agitation and defamation".
"The PKK has around 6,000 children within their ranks," he said. "No sane person with a sense of conscience, and a heart can claim that an organization which kills in your name, extorts money, sets fire to cars, rapes your young girls, and offers them to their leaders, and who starts a war against all holy values of the Kurdish people, defends Kurds' rights."
Isin went on to say that "our people will realize that this is a game played not for them, but against them; and will ruin it with their wisdom."
"In every act, Kurds suffer the biggest damage. It is their cars, and shops which are set to fire. It is their lives being taken away from them. [...] The Kurdish people are determined not to leave their young and future to a terrorist organization which tries to carry the country back into the 90's, brushing aside all political gains," he added
"This determination will continue to be supported by the state in the most effective manner," he concluded.
Turkey has been carrying out operations against the PKK -- considered a terrorist group by Turkey, the EU and U.S. -- inside and outside Turkey since July 24.
Since July 24, around 1,600 people have been arrested in the wave of counter-terrorism raids amid a spike in attacks targeting security officers after the July 20 deadly suicide bombing in southeastern Suruc district that killed 34. The suicide bombing was blamed on ISIS.
