The Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) administration has been eliminating intra-party opposition figures who want to organize an extraordinary congress in order to change the party leadership due to failures in recent elections, by dismissing members of the party who submitted their signatures in support of the extraordinary congress.
Former MHP deputies Meral Akşener, Sinan Oğan and Koray Aydın submitted 543 signatures to the party administration on Jan 15 but MHP Deputy Chairman Şefkat Çetin announced on Monday that the provincial administrators in Elazığ, Samsun, Tokat, Kırklareli, Tekirdağ, Bayburt, Gümüşhane and Çorum along with district administrators in the party's former strongholds of Elazığ, Bayburt and Gümüşhane have been dismissed.
