Ankara to set up Law Enforcement Monitoring Commission

The government has submitted a draft law to Parliament to establish an independent Law Enforcement Monitoring Commission and, according to sources from the chamber the proposed legislation is expected to be included on the agenda in the coming days.
The aim of the Law on Establishment of the Law Enforcement Monitoring Committee is to enhance the liability, develop transparency and obtain a faster and more effective complaint system to monitor and record in a central system the actions and operations carried out by administrative units resulting from their actions, attitudes and manners that require disciplinary punishment or alleged crimes of general law enforcement officers.
It also aims to ensure the establishment of the Law Enforcement Monitoring Committee and to determine the way it operates, it missions, authority, methods and procedures of other administrative measures.
