Opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Deputy Hüseyin Yıldız suffered a heart spasm on Friday during the justice march organized by CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.
According to CHP Deputy Chairman Veli Agbaba, Yıldız, who is a deputy for the Aegean province of Aydın, underwent an angioplasty at the Sakarya State Hospital.
Yıldız was transferred to Ankara to receive further treatment and his condition remains unclear.
Earlier, at the beginning of the march that is taking place in hot and humid weather, 65-year-old party member Hasan Tatlı suffered a heart attack, collapsed and severely injured his head.
Kılıçdaroğlu explained why his party decided to organize the march from the nation's capital Ankara to Istanbul despite the hot weather.
"The CHP is ready to give any support needed in the fight against terrorism," he said, adding that he wants peace and justice in the country and region.
Speaking on the 16th day of his justice march in Sakarya, a city in the Marmara region, Kılıçdaroğlu indicated that they will continue their march faithfully and with determination.
"We have suffered from terrorism a lot and we have often made speeches for mothers not to cry. Sometimes we sang folk songs and read poems but we could not do anything to prevent it. Terrorism still hurts. I can assure you that we are quite determined as far as the fight against terrorism is concerned. Every time I give a speech, I ask everyone what they want us to do regarding terrorism. We are ready to give any sort of support for fighting it," he said.
Meanwhile, Şenay Günaydn, who is accused of provoking people to take to the streets during the justice march, was detained yesterday in Istanbul. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had launched an investigation into Günaydın and then later issued an arrest warrant for provoking violence.
Kılıçdaroğlu launched the march on June 15, following the imprisonment of CHP lawmaker Enis Berberoglu, who was sentenced to 25 years for leaking secret information about the National Intelligence Agency (MİT).
