President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Vladimir Putin on Monday discussed Israel's attack on Iran and the latest regional developments in a phone call, calling for restraint and warning of regional instability.
Erdoğan conveyed that the attacks launched by Israel risk a spiral of violence that is to threaten the whole region. Adding that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's stance ignoring law, is a clear threat to the international system, he underlined that the region cannot endure another war.
The Turkish president emphasized that Türkiye is carrying out active diplomacy since the start of the conflict and said that dialogue is the only means to solve the crisis. Erdoğan further said that the latest tensions must not divert attention from the ongoing genocidal assault on Palestinians in Gaza.
Regional tension has escalated since Friday after Israel launched coordinated airstrikes on multiple sites across Iran, including military and nuclear facilities, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory strikes.
Israeli authorities said that at least 24 people were killed and hundreds injured in Iranian missile attacks since Friday.
Iran, for its part, said that at least 224 people were killed and over 1,000 others wounded in the Israeli assault.
