ISTANBUL — As Daily Sabah's ombudsman, I would like to highlight two important points. The first is that the experience is not always a good thing.

Experience may come with a bit of tiredness, too much caution, lack of sensitivity and inaction.

So we must be wary of this. Second, even if Daily Sabah is a new newspaper, it does not mean it lacks experience completely. Particularly in the column and op-ed pages, there are articles from seasoned journalists. Last week we talked with Op-Ed Editor Meryem İlayda Atlas and she spoke about a new project she intends to embark on: "Daily Sabah is a new daily newspaper that has a publication history of six weeks. Our team is young, ambitious and hardworking. With the changes in technology and means of communications, news reporters and columnists do not have to sit in their offices all day long in order to do their work. Daily Sabah has many contributors from around the world and all their contributions come to life in our Istanbul offices. We should admit that no type of communication is stronger than the one established with eye contact.

Therefore, we decided to launch a series of talks, namely, Daily Sabah Talks, between those who are working in the newsroom and those who have valuable contributions from outside of the newsroom in order to establish stronger ties and a platform to learn from each other's experiences. We bring together our columnists with the team of Daily Sabah on weekdays during office hours. This gives us an opportunity to have a break from the intense daily routine and discuss what we are producing together. This month our program will start with our columnist Markar Esayan and continue with Haşmet Babaoğlu and Mehmet Barlas."

With my assistant ombudsman İsmail Selim Eşsiz we welcome this project with open arms.

Daily Sabah says that they have the mission of inheriting universal journalism. But it also has to form its own journalism style and culture.

This can only happen with cooperation between those who contribute to the newspaper by contributing to each other. These talks will be crucial for sharing experiences and discussing new ideas while benefiting the newspaper itself. We congratulate Meryem İlayda Atlas.
