The Ordu-Giresun Airport is already attracting investors before it has even been completed. Ordu Governor İrfan Balkanlıoğlu said Arab investors have purchased more than 100 houses in Ordu, and they are also requesting land from the plateau as well as are willing to invest in residences and hotels. The airport between the northern Turkish provinces of Ordu and Giresun will be the eighth airport in the world built on an artificial island after its construction is completed, and will be the first such airport in both Turkey as well as Europe. The Ordu-Giresun Airport has already boosted real estate investments in the region before it is even operating. Foreign investors are taking action before the prices rise after the opening in May. Balkanlıoğlu welcomed members of the Economy Journalists Association and said the airport will increase tourism in the area, as there has been an economic revival in the region within the last seven-to-eight months. Balkanlıoğlu also underscored that with the promotion of other projects, they are expecting this boom to continue.

He stressed they are expecting the number of tourists to increase, as tourists who mostly preferred Trabzon and Rize in the Black Sea Region will now visit Ordu as well. He said the local government is expecting the number of properties purchased by Arabs to increase to 700 by the end of this year, and highlighted that tourists mostly preferred the districts of Akkuş, Ünye, Fatsa and Kabadüz but are also interested in plots on the Çambaşı Plateau.
