Despite a slowdown in global golf tourism, 2017 was a fairly remarkable year for Turkish golf, in terms of the tournaments organized in the country as well as a growing interest from fans and sponsors.
Initial reports, however, have suggested that the global scenario is likely to change in 2018. Turkish golf clubs have welcomed the new year with a number of tournaments. Istanbul's Klassis Golf Club organized a tournament titled, "Hello New Year" while the Istanbul Golf Club hosted "New Year's Chip & Putt Tournament" for members.
Golf can be played in Turkey all year round and with the winter weather yet to hit Istanbul, golfers in Turkey's biggest metropolis still have the opportunity to play at courses like Kemer and Klassis.
New Regulation in
Turkey Golf League
The Turkish Golf Federation has introduced some new regulations in the Turkey Golf League. Until the end of 2017, only amateur golfers could join tournaments organized by the federation while professionals were only allowed to participate in different tour events. But that is going to change this year. The golf federation will now allow professional golfers to participate in its tournaments, in order to make them more competitive. It will also revise the selection process of players who can attend tournaments abroad.
