The massive social networking site Facebook revealed its detailed shopping options on Thursday that enable users to purchase products directly on businesses' Facebook "Pages," according to BuzzFeed.
The shopping feature is an important step in Facebook's plans to take over the e-commerce business and turn its pages into destinations where their users can collect information they need about products and make quick orders if they like. It's obvious that the feature could change the type of content strategies that businesses use in giving users information on networking sites.
Facebook began tests of the "buy" button in July 2014, nearly a year to the day. The option enables businesses on Facebook to purchase ads that would include that direct purchasing method. These purchased advertisements are often seen for mobile games and other apps.
Several other online social networks have introduced "buy" buttons before. The worldwide search engine Google released its "buy" button on mobile search ads, a feature called Purchases on Google. Pinterest, the visual discovery and collection network, which is valued at $11 billion, also released its "buyable pins" feature in June as an entry into advertising.
