Turkey's flag carrier Turkish Airlines on Wednesday signed a codeshare agreement with Hawaiian Airlines which will expand options for customers traveling from Turkey to Hawaii via points in the Far East.

According to an official statement from the company, the agreement allows Turkish Airlines to put its "TK" booking code on Hawaiian's daily flights between Osaka, Japan and Honolulu and HA's five-times weekly service between Honolulu and Seoul, Korea.

The announcement was made by Turkish Airlines and Hawaian Airlines representatives with a ceremony in San Francisco. Ilker Aycı, Chairman of Turkish Airlines was accompanied by Ahmet Bolat, Turkish Airlines' Chief Investment & Technology Officer and Ahmet Olmuştur, Chief Marketing Officer who expressed their satisfaction of the enhanced cooperation between both airlines.

Aycı stated that "As Turkish Airlines, we are extremely pleased to sign this codeshare agreement with Hawaiian Airlines, which will improve our partnership and will maximize the travel opportunities offered to our passengers through the networks of both airlines."

"We look forward to introducing more Turkish Airlines customers to our authentic Hawaiian hospitality, award-winning on-time performance and quality of service on their journey from Istanbul to our island home," said Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian Airlines' CEO and President.

Flights will be available for purchase following the necessary approvals from the respective countries' civil aviation authorities. Turkish and Hawaiian are also considering an extension of their codeshare agreement to include each carrier's flights from New York's John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK).

Star Alliance member Turkish Airlines is a 4-star airline today with a fleet of 289 (passenger and cargo) aircraft flying to 277 destinations worldwide, with 229 international and 48 domestic.

According to the Skytrax survey of 2015, Turkish Airlines was chosen "Europe's Best Airline" for the fifth and "Best Airline in Southern Europe" for the seventh consecutive time. In 2010, Turkish Airlines won the world's "Best Economy Catering Service," in 2013, the world's "Best Business Catering Service," and, in 2014, the "Best Business Catering Service" awards.
