Travelers in Turkey opt more for tailored trips

Custom tours built around a theme or specific interests are on the rise and Turkish travel agencies are diverting their main programs to specialty tours. These tailored tours are generally designed for tourists who are not willing to travel in groups but seek a well-designed independent trip program that will make their travel experience more joyful.

Sinem Tosun, the founder of Boutique Style, a luxury travelers' club based in Istanbul, and the board member of Indigo Group, told Daily Sabah that travel agencies have fixed package tours but a travelers' club target is for travelers with high income that search for a more detailed and exclusive program.

"I believe traveling is a lifestyle and changes for each person. And each person has a different expectation from a trip. Some want to know culture, some do shopping and others seek adventure. Traveling can even be an escape or a revitalizing action for some. This is why a travelers' club attracts those who are already aware of what they want," Tosun said. Traveler consultants take part in all process to avoid any hesitation, she added.

Tosun said demand for honeymoon trips is high. "Turkish couples are asking to experience an all-encompassing honeymoon trip. The most favored ones are to Buzios, the Koh Yao Islands, the Philippines, Riviera Maya and Tahiti." Tosun said for honeymoons, Turkish couples opt to discover lesser-known parts of Asia.

"If they are seeking a travel experience in Europe, it is important to propose alternative options like a dinner at the Colosseum accompanied by classical music, an ultra-luxury cruise tour on the Amazon River, joining a Broadway musical show, a piano recital at St. Marco Church in Venice as well as arts events like the Cannes Film Festival and the Academy Awards," she went on to say. Gourmet and shopping trips are also on the rise.

Tosun stressed that this concept is generally for travelers with special journey tastes. "Our service is mostly for travelers searching for high-quality experience and limited to a certain number."
