Speaking at the Fifth International Parliamentarian Conference on Population and Development, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated,"I am a prime minister that is against birth by caesarean. I consider abortion to be murder. No one should have the right to allow this to happen. "There is no difference between killing a baby in its mother's stomach and killing a baby after birth."
During his address, Erdoğan went on to state the following:
"Turkey was one of the first countries to sign the UNICEF Agreement. We have also accepted a Child's Protection Law and have made great strides in eradicating the legal inadequacies regarding our children. I want to say this openly: I am a prime minister that is against birth by caesarean. I consider abortion to be murder. No one should have the right to allow this to happen. "There is no difference between killing a baby in its mother's stomach and killing a baby after birth. We have to be more sensitive to this issue."
