Medical students, who choose to elect Kurdish as an elective course, will be given two hours in Kurdish language training a week.
Dicle University Secretary-General Prof. Dr. Sabri Eyigün explains that they decided to offer Kurdish as an elective course in response to the high demand by doctors who have difficulties communicating with patients due to the language barrier.
"I wish Kurdish was offered as an elective course throughout Turkey, however I do believe that will be the case in the future," stated Eyigün.
