CNN International, which broadcasted the protests in Taksim Square last night, connected live to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's chief advisor İbrahim Kalın. However, famous CNN host and reporter Christiane Amanpour quickly ended the interview when Kalın asked if she could imagine a situation in which people wielding Molotov cocktails and sticks were allowed to march to the White House and attack public property. Amanpour quickly responded by stating, "Mr. Kalın, we have to stop. The show is over," quickly cutting off the live broadcast.
During the interview, Amanpour asked why they were focused in on Gezi Park, to which İbrahim Kalın responded that a number of protesters are the same individuals responsible for carrying out the attack on the U.S. Embassy in Ankara in February.
When Amanpour responded by stating, "That wasn't the question," Kalın said, "When the DHKP-C bombed the U.S. Embassy they were considered terrorists. When they go out to Taksim do they suddenly become democratic protesters."
