Istanbul - Dense precipitation has affected Turkey since the weekend with Istanbul being hardest hit.Çatalca district on the European side of the city recorded the most rain in the country.
Incessant rainfall over the past three days relieved concerns for Istanbul regarding a likely drought in the coming months. Water levels in dams supplying water to country's most populated city rose considerably.
Floods inundated numerous districts in Kahramanmaraş and Adıyaman, two provinces in the southeastern Turkey.
Cities at higher altitudes, meanwhile, are gripped with snowfall. Bolu, a city in the northern Turkey, a major transit point connecting Turkey's west and east, was battered by snowfall on Monday and yesterday. Snowfall derailed traffic on a major highway traversing the city. Forecasters expect rainfall to continue well until Friday with temperatures to drop as low as 5 Celsius degrees.
