ANKARA — Turkish high-officials on Saturday marked the Mother's Day, celebrated on the second Sunday of the month of May.
Turkey's President Abdullah Gül stressed the importance of mother-child bonding in his message, saying that "a child who receives motherly love will lead a life in peace with his environment, far from all evils".
"The new generations' strength depends on various kinds of good opportunities provided to mothers, from education to health," he added.
Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said many young people have died in Turkey due to terrorist acts and the only way to establish peace in the country is when mothers' hearts are stilled. He said Turkey would not experience such suffering again as the government is taking decisive measures to end terrorism.
