ISTANBUL — After protests and the number of people in Taksim's Istiklal Street began to grow on Saturday evening, police peacefully dispersed crowds to avoid bigger altercations.
Police have completely closed off Istiklal Street to the public after the amount of pedestrians grew rapidly in the evening hours. Police took precautionary measures in order to avoid illegal protests. Police announced, "This gathering is against the governments protest laws, please disperse." They urged children and ill citizens to quickly evacuate the area.
