A survey by an international research company shows residents of the capital Ankara harbor most hope for a better future, while people in İzmir in the west are the most pessimistic about the future.
In the Turkey section of the End of the Year survey by the WIN / Gallup International Association, people were asked whether 2015 will be a better year than 2014. Ankara residents gave an overwhelmingly positive answer to the question at 39 percent. Residents of İzmir, however, gave the most negative responses at 47 percent.
Survey shows students tend to be more optimistic about the future, while those between the ages of 35 and 44 together with pensioners envision a gloomy year according to the survey.
