Retired Gen. Kenan Evren, who spearheaded the 1980 coup, is undergoing treatment for Alzheimer's disease, Sabah newspaper reported.
Evren, 98, was sentenced to life last year for his role in the coup. The newspaper reported that the general is confined to a bed in a military hospital in the capital, Ankara.
