Statistics revealed that drunk-driving is the main cause of revoked driver's licenses in Turkey. Some 1.1 million drivers had their licenses suspended in the past ten years, making up 88 percent of the number of licenses suspended in the same period.
Turkey introduced tougher traffic laws last year to fight drunk driving, which claims hundreds of lives every year in traffic accidents.
Motorists caught driving under the influence of even a small amount of alcohol, face a suspension of their driver's license for at least six months along with fines.
Along with reckless driving, drunk driving is a major cause of accidents in Turkey where over 3,000 people are killed yearly in thousands of accidents.
