PKK terrorists have killed a police officer on Tuesday as he attempted to detain two PKK suspects in Turkey's northeastern Iğdır province.
The terrorists opened fire on the police officer, Olgun Kurbaoğlu, as he approached two suspects -who were denounced as being members of the PKK- in a store, sources said.
Kurbanoğlu was injured during the clashes with terrorists and rushed to the nearby hospital in critical condition, however he was announced to have passed away later on.
A wide range operation has been launched in the area against the terrorist PKK members.
Meanwhile, after the attack Iğdır Governor Davut Haner and Iğdır Provincial Police Chief Yüksel Babal came to the hospıtal and received information about the incident.
The PKK, which is recognized as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and E.U., has killed dozens of security officials in numerous terrorist attacks throughout the country since the organization broke the cease-fire in July. In response to the violent attacks, the Turkish military has carried out airstrikes on PKK hideouts and reportedly killed 943 militants while more than 850 have reportedly been injured.
