Turkish Gendarmerie commander Yavuz Sonat Güzel died of his wounds sustained in an attack by PKK terrorists in Turkey's eastern Tunceli province on Saturday.
Güzel was taken into Elazığ Fırat University Research Hospital immediately after the attack but the soldier died despite all the efforts, the military officials said in a statement.
On Saturday, the PKK terrorists launched an attack on Turkish military forces in a village near Tunceli province. After the attack, the military carried an air operation and Cobra helicopters bombed the territory.
According to Turkish government figures, the PKK has killed around 30 civilians since July, while more than 120 members of the security forces have been martyred.
The renewed violence came in the wake of the July 20 Suruç massacre following a fragile cease-fire from early 2013 as the "reconciliation process" sought an end the 30-year Kurdish conflict.
