A Turkish soldier has died in hospital after being hurt in an anti-terror operation in southeastern Turkey, the Turkish General Staff said in a statement on Monday.
The soldier was critically wounded during an operation against the PKK terrorist organization in Sur district of southeastern Diyarbakır province at 10.25 a.m. local time [0825GMT] on Sunday, the statement read. He died in hospital on Monday.
The PKK-considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU-resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in late July.
Since then, official figures indicate more than 200 members of the security forces have been killed and over 1,700 PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq, including airstrikes.
