Nick Proschwitz, a striker for Bundesliga's second division team Paderborn, found himself in hot water after it was revealed that the 29-year-old player was involved in flashing his genitals to a woman during the team's training camp in southern Turkey's Antalya last week according to German media reports.
Proschwitz, who was accused of flashing his genitals to the female employee of a company organizing the team's trip to Antalya and chasing her across the hotel he was staying at with the team, was expelled from the club.
The player defended himself by stating that the flashing incident was a result of a prank by his team-mates who pulled down his "low hanging pants," at which point his genitals were uncovered for only seconds. The victim of the flashing incident, who did not file for a complaint against Proschwitz, told German media that she did not even notice the flashing. The player was reportedly drunk at the time of the incident. The club's president, Wilfried Finke, said at a press conference on Monday evening that the incident was intolerable and he condemned it. "I don't care whether he was wearing low-hanging pants or not. We cannot tolerate this behavior and I condemn it," he said as he announced the firing of Proschwitz. Finke did not mention the alleged unruly behavior of other players but acknowledged that some players had "damaged flower pots" in the hotel and the club had paid compensation to the hotel and issued fines to players.
Proschwitz started out in the German leagues before moving to Switzerland and England where he played for five teams between 2009 and 2016.
