All fifth graders in Turkey's elementary schools will take an aptitude test to measure their future athletic potential, according to new regulations, expected to be signed on Tuesday by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The regulation will require students to focus on sports activities in line with their skills. It aims to boost students' self-confidence and social skills while helping them to balance their mental and physical health.
The plan foresees the development of Turkish sports and raising up future generations of healthy sports enthusiasts. Students who desire to excel further in a specific athletic sport will be able to sign up for courses outside of school hours, under the supervision of teachers and trainers working for the Ministry of Education.
