Video footage showing a crazed cat attacking repeatedly a dog and causing its owner to collapse on the ground has gone viral on Turkish social media.

The video, which was captured by a security camera on July 15 in southern Turkey's Adana, shows the cat emerging from under a parked car and attacking the dog.

Despite the dog owner's efforts, the cat continued to lunge at the dog until the woman finally grabbed the dog's collar, causing her to collapse on the ground.

The aggressive cat left the scene when onlookers came to the rescue of the woman.

Some reports suggested that the cat wanted to protect its newborn kittens from the dog.
