Aspiring young journalists on their summer internship at TRT World visited the Nizip refugee camp in Turkey's southeastern Gaziantep province on Monday.

The journalists received information from the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) about the camp and participated in a Turkish lesson of a kindergarten class to spend time with the children.

On the second day of their visit, the interns visited the Bülbülzade Foundation, the largest foundation of Gaziantep which focuses on education and health initiatives for Syrians.

After the visits, the young journalists also paid a visit to Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin in her office, and were offered the opportunity to ask her questions about the municipality's efforts for refugees.

TRT World offers a fellowship program to educate journalists who are interested in bringing intellectual value to international journalism. The program includes meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Turkish Grand National Assembly as well as meeting with Turkish parliament members.
