Heavy rains that affected much of the country yesterday will continue throughout the week, the State Meteorological Institute said. Heavy rains yesterday caused local floods in some subterranean roads, accidents and traffic in Istanbul, with hailstorms affecting some places in the province. The Istanbul Meteorological Bureau stated that up to 40 kilograms per square meter of rainfall was expected yesterday. It also asked commuters to be more careful on the roads.
This week's heavy rains will especially affect Istanbul, Yalova, Kocaeli and Bursa in the country's northwest, the western Black Sea region and Bingöl, Muş, Diyarbakır and Batman in the southeast.
Temperatures will decrease between two to eight degrees Celsius across the country. In some parts of the east, snowfall is expected.
