PKK terrorists fired upon security forces in Diyarbakır's Sur district on Thursday, causing panic because a committee involving chief prosecutor, province deputy governors and provincial police chief were conducting an examination on-site in the vicinity of the clashes, where the head of the Diyarbakır Bar Association, Tahir Elçi was murdered.
The security forces returned fire, and killed four of the terrorists, media reports said.
The clashes between the PKK and police lasted about five minutes, after which the committee was evacuated the scene of the incident.
The incident occurred at around a historic mosque near the murder scene of prominent lawyer Tahir Elçi. The committee was reportedly there for a while before the terrorists started shooting at the security forces.
There was yet no information if the terrorists purposefully directed fire at the committee or not.
Anti-terror operations launched against the PKK in Sur ended on Wednesday, but the curfew in the district is still intact.
