Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli said on Tuesday that the Peoples' Democracy Party (HDP) hinders the work of Parliament members. "The HDP terrorizes Parliament. The right thing to do is to prevent terrorist propaganda being spread in Parliament by the lifting immunities of PKK-loving deputies," he said during the MHP's regular party group meeting at the Parliament on Tuesday.
Bahçeli's remarks came one day after HDP deputies left the constitutional committee meeting on Monday evening singing the PKK terrorist anthem and shouting: "Biji Serok Apo" (Long Live Apo), referring to the group's imprisoned leader Abdullah Öcalan, also known as "Apo."
Criticizing the scuffle initiated by HDP deputies at the constitutional committee meeting, claiming it erupted to prevent efforts to discuss a proposal to strip deputies of their immunity, Bahçeli accused HDP deputies of shamelessly using terrorist tactics, which they are already familiar with, during commission meetings and at in the General Assembly. "Lifting immunities of those traitors that disturb the General Assembly and swear at all our values is one of our biggest national duties," he said.
"It's shameful to interrupt the legislative work for our veteran parliamentarians. How are we going to explain this to people in the street if there is a scuffle in Parliament? HDP deputies terrorize other members. In this regard, I invite everybody to use common sense," he added.
Pointing to the importance of draining the PKK and DAESH terrorist organizations of their resources, Bahçeli reiterated his party's support for the government in the war against terrorism: "The government should not hesitate as long as they continue to fight against terrorism under national and moral policies. The MHP will always support this fight and the Turkish nation will always bless the government as along they adhere to these policies."
