Three soldiers were killed and three others were injured in an operation conducted against PKK terrorists in Turkey's southeastern Hakkari province.

Two Gendarmerie Special Forces teams searching houses in the region were attacked by terrorists in Ağaçdibi village located some eight kilometers southwest of the Hakkari city center.

Five terrorists were killed in the clash.

Wounded soldiers were transferred to the Hakkari State Hospital.

An air-backed operation was launched to capture the remaining terrorists.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU, and resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, PKK terrorist attacks killed more than 600 security personnel and also claimed the lives of many civilians, including women and children, while more than 7,000 PKK terrorists were killed in army operations.
