The Turkish army has hit 102 Daish targets with more than 300 rounds of howitzer fire, 40 rockets and 18 tanks on Saturday, supporting the Free Syrian Army (FSA) as part of the ongoing Operation Euphrates Shield, the military said.
FSA forces killed 14 Daish terrorists during a defensive operation in the opposition-held town of Akhtarin in northern Syria on the same day, the statement said. During the operation, two FSA soldiers were killed and 19 others were injured.
Turkish jets destroyed two defensive outposts and two hideouts of Daish terrorists in airstrikes carried out in Duvaybik and Aktharin.
Meanwhile, jets of the US-led coalition killed 17 Daish terrorists and destroyed three buildings as well as a vehicle in 10 airstrikes across the northern towns of Aktharin and Hazwan.
Turkey launched Operation Euphrates Shield in cooperation with the FSA on Aug. 24 to clear its southern border of Daish terrorists and liberate northern Syrian towns from the terrorist group. In less than a day, the FSA, backed by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) liberated Jarablus and continued marching from the east and the west.
