Turkey is closely following the developments in the region and is actively included in the coalition in Iraq and Syria with its air force and locally trained forces, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on Saturday.
Speaking at Justice and Development (AK Party) Party's 25th Advisory and Assessment Camp in Afyonkarahisar, Çavuşoğlu said that local forces will decide when and where to carry out air operations.
"As a matter of fact these forces are local forces" Çavuşoğlu said, and added that they will be necessary in the aftermath of the operations to ensure safety and security in Mosul once it is cleared of Daesh terrorists.
Çavuşoğlu highlighted once again that Turkey will not allow PKK and other terrorist organizations to take active roles in the region.
Turkey has been at odds with Iraq's central government over the presence of Turkish troops at the Bashiqa camp near Mosul, where it has trained thousands of forces to fight against Daesh.
