More than 70 PKK and Daesh terrorists have been killed in airstrikes carried out by Turkish jets across eastern and southeastern Turkey and northern Syria over the past week, the military announced Saturday.
The Turkish General Staff said in a statement that 41 PKK terrorists were "neutralized" across Turkey's eastern Muş, Bitlis and Elazığ provinces as well as the southeastern province of Hakkari from Dec. 1 to Dec. 7.
Turkish fighter jets killed 19 PKK terrorists in airstrikes carried out in Northern Iraq as well, the military said Saturday.
According to a written statement released by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), warplanes carried out airstrikes in the Gara region of Northern Iraq, killing 19 terrorists.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU. It resumed its decades-long armed campaign against the Turkish state in July last year.
More than 300 civilians and nearly 800 security personnel have since been martyred while roughly 8,000 PKK terrorists have been killed or apprehended.
