Emergency services rushed to the scene of a collision involving two trains near Bedford in eastern England on Friday, with multiple people reported injured and authorities declaring a major incident as rescue efforts continued.

The East of England Ambulance Service urged members of the public to avoid the area.
An air ambulance was observed on Flightradar24 operating south of Bedford.
Thameslink said all rail lines between Luton and Bedford have been blocked since about 5.30 p.m. BST (1630GMT).
