Fire of Anatolia's acclaimed dance production "Troy" will return to the stage at Istanbul's Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) on Thursday, offering audiences a contemporary interpretation of one of mythology's most enduring stories before the company begins a tour across Russia.
The performance will be staged at the Türk Telekom Opera Hall at 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 1.
Inspired by Homer's Iliad, "Troy" goes beyond the story of war to explore themes of love, betrayal, courage and sacrifice through dance, music and visual storytelling.
Directed by Mustafa Erdoğan, the production combines Anatolian rhythms with modern choreography and stage technology to reinterpret the ancient legend for contemporary audiences.
Fast-paced battle sequences give way to quieter, more emotional moments as the performance recreates Troy's mythological world from different perspectives.
The production draws on the story's position between Eastern and Western cultures, using dance as a universal language to revisit one of Anatolia's most recognizable legends.
The production also highlights Troy's lasting place in history, pointing to figures associated with the city's legacy, from Hittite King Tudhaliya and Achilles to Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Xerxes, Constantine, Mehmed II and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
Through choreography, music and visual effects, the performance presents the ancient city as a place where myth, history and memory continue to intersect.
After the Istanbul performance, Fire of Anatolia will take "Troy" on a two-month tour across Russia during October and November.
The company is scheduled to perform in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Sochi, Yekaterinburg and Krasnodar, continuing its international tour with performances that blend traditional Anatolian dance with contemporary stage production.
